On 21 June, Arcticugol and the Northern Forum Academy signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Barentsburg, Svalbard, as part of the ongoing development of BB Research.
The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation in Arctic research and will support the further development of BB Research through joint scientific initiatives, academic events and wider international collaboration.
The memorandum was signed by Ildar Neverov, CEO of Arcticugol, and Vladimir Vasilyev, Executive Director of the Northern Forum Academy. The signing ceremony was attended by Andrey Chemerilo, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Svalbard.
The partnership was made possible through the joint efforts of both organisations, with the active support of Professor Irina Strelnikova, Director of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Arctic Research at HSE University in Moscow.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vladimir Vasilyev welcomed the agreement and reaffirmed the Academy’s commitment to supporting Arcticugol in strengthening scientific ties and developing international cooperation in Arctic research.
Ildar Neverov described the memorandum as an important step in broadening Arcticugol’s activities and highlighted Barentsburg’s potential as a base for joint projects, professional exchange and long-term cooperation between organisations working in the High Arctic.
The memorandum provides a foundation for future collaborative projects and will contribute to the continued development of BB Research as an international platform for Arctic science, education and dialogue.
